Program

Founded in 1900, Birmingham represented a new model for higher education. This was England’s first civic university, where students from all religions and backgrounds were accepted on an equal basis. Birmingham has been challenging and developing great minds for more than a century. Characterized by a tradition of innovation, research at the University has broken new ground and pushed forward the boundaries of knowledge. The University of Birmingham has been welcoming international students since 1900. Today it has one of the largest international communities in the UK with over 4,500 students from 150 countries. In addition, 27% of the academic staff consists of non-UK nationals, which demonstrates Birmingham’s attraction of the brightest talent to its academic community from around the globe.

Academics

University of Birmingham offers courses in several academic areas.  These courses are subject to change. Business students considering this program should meet with an advisor in the Office of International Business Studies (College of Business Administration, David Straz Hall 101) to initially evaluate course options. Once a student is accepted to study abroad, s/he will meet with an International Business Studies advisor to approve courses.  Please note that the classes often change: it is the student’s responsibility to remain in direct contact with the  Office of International Business Studies to request changes or updates. Grades do not transfer to Marquette University for this program. Only credits will transfer provided that a grade of “C” or higher is earned.

Housing

Birmingham offers a wide range of housing options.  Please visit their housing website for more information.
