fur
The "Institut für Internationale Kommunikation - IIK Düsseldorf e. V." (Institute for International Communication Duesseldorf), founded in 1989, is an innovative provider devoted to enhance international exchange and training. The IIK offers language courses, organizes exchange programs as well as vocational trainings including teacher training. IIK cooperates closely with Düsseldorf's Heinrich-Heine-Universität and sponsors its international activities.

International German and Business German language summer courses are offered for all levels. Whether you are a complete beginner, an advanced speaker, or near fluent in German, IIK has the right course for you. All course participants can use the on-campus computer facilities with free internet service and the university cafeteria, where students can eat an inexpensive lunch. Students also take part in the extracurricular program including cultural, sport, and leisure events with program participants from over 60 countries.

Academics

All students will participate in a comprehensive orientation prior to departure.

Courses offered
IIK Düsseldorf offers intensive German courses to students at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. There are five lessons per week (Monday through Friday) and a final exam with certificate possible. Courses normally have 10 to 18 participants. For more information on the courses available, visit IIK Düsseldorf website.

Housing

Students are able to decide between several housing options.

Host family: With this option, students will experience life in Germany first-hand and moreover, practice their German language outside class. Family details vary (small or big families, German students, singles, retired couples). Some hosts also offer meals for an additional fee.

Room in a shared flat: Students have a room in a flat and share kitchen and bathroom with other students (usually other international IIK students).

Single apartment/room: These may be in a student hall - only in summer from July till September - or elsewhere in the city. Sometimes you can come to the Heinrich-Heine-University campus on foot or by bike. If you live right in the city, you will use public transport, which is very reliable in Düsseldorf.

For students needing special requirements, they can also use the service of Zweitwohnagentur - an agency that offers a huge number of apartments all over Düsseldorf.
