Program Description:


This is an Applied Global Business Learning (AGBL) trip that is supported by the Center for Global and Economic Studies. AGBL is a unique volunteer organization that looks to assist communities in developing nations. By providing micro-enterprise solutions, it is the hope of the organization to foster sustainable business practices while preserving cultural ideals. In the past, the participating students consulted on student-run companies at St. Xavier University as well as providing business expertise to new startups. A paper and some additional meetings in addition to the trip are required.

The students stay at the University of St. Xavier when in Ahmedabed and in Deli hotel accommodations are provided. All of the housing costs are included in the fee of the trip.

Ahmedabed is the largest city and former capital of the Indian state of Gujarat. With a city population of around 5.5 million, and an extended area population of 6.3 million it is the fifth largest city in India. Ahmedabed has a very diverse population, including large groups of Hindus, Muslims and Jains, this adds an interesting cultural dynamic to the city which makes the area known for their religious festivals and cuisine. Located in Ahmedabed is the University of St. Xavier where the group will stay most of the time and carry out their work.Delhi is the capital of India with a population of around 16 million. Delhi has a vast and fascinating history and has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. Delhi has a very rich culture that has been greatly influenced by its lengthy history and historic association as the capital of India. There are many significant monuments in the city, including influential architecture in the form of temples and mosques. The city is also known for national events, holidays and festivals, as well as traditional Indian cuisine. This large city has a lot to offer and is a popular tourist destination.
